The new Calgary Pro Musica Society Young Artists Development Program is intended to discover, nurture and promote young Calgary musicians. Participants in the Program will receive exclusive instruction from the prestigious Pro Musica visiting artists. Come hear Calgary’s finest young talent showcased in this special event concert.

Meet the 2009-2010 CPMS Young Artist Development Programme Students

Caroline Kim

Caroline Kim

Caroline Kim began playing cello at the age of eight in Korea. After immigrating to Canada a year later she began studying with Beth Root Sandvoss at Mount Royal Conservatory. Caroline is a passionate young musician with a great interest in all types of music. In 2009 she was invited to Korea to participate in the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians where she advanced to the semi-finals. This spring she will travel to Quebec as one of only three cellists chosen to participate in the Stepping Stone 2010 (Canadian Music Competition). This past spring she was awarded the Schumann Prize at the Kiwanis Music Festival and performed in the European Masters Matinee at Cantos Music Centre. Caroline is currently a member of the Calgary Youth Orchestra, the Academy Programme at Mount Royal Conservatory and spends her summers at Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park Colorado.


Scott Ross-Molyneux

Scott Ross-Molyneux

Scott Ross-Molyneux began his musical studies on piano and moved to study harp at age 10 with Gianetta Baril at the Mount Royal Conservatory. In the summers of 2008 and 2010 he studied with Canadian harpist Judy Loman in Toronto. Scott is also an active composer, and in June 2010 the Calgary Youth Orchestra, of which he is member, premiered his orchestral work Landscapes. In April he was named third place winner in the Junior Division of the International Composition for Orchestra sponsored by the Asia America Symphony Guild in California. He has appeared in the Calgary Kiwanis Festival since the first harp classes were created and performed at the Stars of the Festival in 2010. He is currently in grade 12 at Westmount Charter and is working towards his ARCT. After graduation Scott plans to continue his musical studies with a dual major in performance and composition.


Ronda Lun

Ronda Lun

Ronda Lun started piano at the late age of ten, and she is currently studying with Kathy Dornian. She is a consistent winner of many awards, scholarships, and medals in local festivals and competitions, including the Calgary Concerto Competition, which provided her with the opportunity to perform with the Calgary Civic Symphony. Ronda has competed on a provincial, national, and even international level many times. In 2009, she completed her ARCT Performer’s Diploma with a high mark of 94%. She has been a student at the Mount Royal Academy of Music for five years, and has also been a participant of the international Morningside Music Bridge program for the past three years. Ronda has gained much from these programs looks forward to working in the YADP.
